The Delta Mine Training Center (DMTC) has developed workshops that serve to improve the skills of amateur prospectors to a level that will make them more likely to reap economic benefit from their efforts.

One and two day workshops can be offered in many regions of the State. Participation in an entire series of workshops would allow participants to receive a certificate by DMTC.

The following workshops will be offered:

     •   Navigation and GPS
     •   Basic Prospecting
     •   Outdoor Safety and Survival
     •   Rock and Mineral Identification
     •   Virtual Prospecting
     •   Placer Mining

The workshop curriculum is designed to prepare the participant to conduct the basic fieldwork needed to locate, identify, access, and stake mineral claims. Basic outdoor, navigational, and mineral identification skills will be integrated with land status, economic, and mining methods instruction to provide a basis for more serious prospecting. Adjunct instructors, mineral industry professionals, and other guest experts will provide the varied instruction for these workshops.
